What is the book about?: In Yrsa’s creepy thriller set in Iceland,  we learn that Berglind, mother of a young son, has just had an exorcism performed at her house.  Berglind’s explanation for recent odd occurrences at her house is a haunting by their teenage babysitter, who was tragically killed in an unsolved hit-and-run while walking to Berglind‘s house to babysit. It seems the babysitter continues to watch over Berglind’s young son. A second storyline involves attorney Thora, who, 2 years later, is hired by a currently jailed criminal to prove the innocence of a fellow inmate,  a man with Down’s Syndrome who has been convicted of setting a fire in a group home that resulted in the horrific deaths of several residents of the home.

My Review: Yrsa’s tale of how these two lives and storylines come together to solve both mysteries makes for a spooky page-turner, creepy from beginning to end.  I love the characters,  the setting, and the creepiness! Once you’ve read this one, you will want to read more of Yrsa’s work!
