Mission

Fondulac District Library provides current, accurate, high demand, and high interest materials primarily to district residents by acquiring, organizing and disseminating books, non-print materials, and services that help educate, enrich, entertain, and inform.

Fondulac District Library is committed to the support of a culture of lifelong learning in this community.

History

Fondulac District Library first was established through the efforts of the East Peoria Woman’s Club in June 1935. Within a few months, it outgrew its original location and was moved to two rooms over City Hall. After several moves to increasingly larger spaces, it was relocated to the former First National Bank building at 140 East Washington Street. In 2009, district residents approved a 7 million dollar bond referendum to build a new library facility. In the fall of 2013, the library and its collection moved to a new 32,000-square-foot building located in East Peoria’s Levee District.

The library’s goal is to provide the best service possible, and the library continues to expand its services to meet the community’s needs.
