Basic Information |
|
| |
- The new library will include two public meeting rooms, which will be accessible even when the rest of the library is closed. This will provide an opportunity for the library to become a community center.
- The new library would allow a substantial increase in the amount of materials offered.
- The library would also be able to offer more programs.

Problems with Current Building Include: |
|
| |
- Portions of the floor have had to be reinforced to be strong enough to hold books, which has lead to full book shelves and dead end aisles.
- There is no quiet reading or study space and there are only 16 seats for adult library users.
- There is only one restroom per gender in the entire building.
- Program space is inadequate and unavailable to the public.
- Water leaks into the Children's Department and vault.
"The current building has a number of problems that will be difficult or impossible to correct through remodeling or expansion, among them are: |
|
| |
- Low ceiling heights
- Inadequate floor strength, and
- Inadequate bearing walls." --Dr. Frederick A. Schlipf, Library Building Consultant
