Margaret Atwood’s chilling dystopian novel will begin streaming on Hulu on April 26, 2017.  Offred works as a Handmaid in the Republic of Gilead, a society where women can no longer read and have been stripped of many rights.  Birth rates have been declining and the value of many women is placed on their fertility alone. Look for this Neil Gaiman adaptation premiering April 30th on Starz.  American Gods begins with Shadow’s release from prison just as his wife and best friend are killed in an accident.  He meets a variety of mysterious characters, including Mr. Wednesday, who have more to them than meets the eye. Watch the trailer here

Before writing the bestselling novel Gone Girl, Gillian Flynn penned Sharp Objects.  HBO has cast Amy Adams to play Camille Preaker, a reporter returning to her hometown after a sojourn at a psychiatric hospital.  Camille must face her dark past after she is thrown into covering the deaths of two girls.  A premiere date has not been set, but it has been revealed that the series will be eight episodes.

This literary classic by L.M. Montgomery is getting a television adaptation this year by Netflix.  The story is set in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island during the turn of the century.  Mathew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt a boy to help with farm chores, but the orphanage sent them a girl by mistake.  When they get to know the spunky Anne Shirley, it becomes harder and harder for them to send her away. Watch the trailer here
