“Get Caught Reading” is a nationwide campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read.  This is Part 2 of Fondulac District Library’s “Get Caught Reading” campaign.

Genna Buhr, Library Director, recommends In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson.

“I love narrative nonfiction, and Erik Larson doesn’t disappoint in this intriguing look at an American ambassorial family’s experiences in Berlin on the cusp of a terrifying era. If you’re looking for a suspenseful thriller but up for learning some history from a new angle along the way,  you’re on the right path.”

Tom Armbruster, Custodian, recommends  Locke and Key  written by Joe Hill and illustrated by Gabriel Rodriguez.

Locke and Key is a graphic novel with six volumes (Which is how I’m cheating by thinking of all six volumes as one “book”). It tells the story of the Locke family struggling with a tragedy while living in a most unusual house.  It’s my favorite book because the themes of love,  loss and the importance of friends  are captured wonderfully in the prose and pictures. Re-reading it is a blast because you catch things in the art that you may have missed the first (and second, and third) time around.”

Laura Warren, Adult Services Manager, recommends Cat’s Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut.

“With a voice as relevant today as ever, Kurt Vonnegut explores the beautiful as well as the ugly side of humanity, which we are all capable of embodying.”

Jimi Roberts, Circulation Assistant, recommends, Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.  Ready Player One is an adventure.

“I went in expecting to get a glimpse of the vitural future my generation has long been promised.  When I got there, I discovered all the best treasure was in the past.  If I were Linus, this story would be my trusty blanket. I would never go anywhere without it.
