Welcome to #FDL’s feature column, Five Questions, where we ask library staff and other East Peoria residents roughly the same five questions. For our first Five Questions column, we’re interviewing Jessica Reeves, FDL’s newest full-time reference specialist.

1. Who are you?

My name is Jessica, I’m a Virgo, and I just got my full time position in reference services here at the library and I love it. I also love, cats, chickens, and collecting an overabundance of art supplies.

2. What is your favorite part of working at FDL?

I really love when I can help someone find exactly what they’re looking for. It’s very fulfilling. I also enjoy programming and making displays, which present people with the opportunity to discover things that they might like.

3. What are you reading/watching/listening to right now?

There are quite a few things that I’m reading at the moment, which is one of the perks of having a library card and working here. I started listening to the audiobook of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson so that I could then listen to his most recent book, Arcanum Unbounded. I’ve read almost all of his other books. I’m currently re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer before Netflix gets rid of it in April.

4. If you didn’t already have your dream job, what would you be doing?

This is going to sound really sappy, but I super love my job! Except maybe I could do my current job on a beach. But not the beach from Lost.

5. Is that your natural hair color?

I swam in too many chlorinated pools and this just happened.
