What is this book about?
This is a middle school book about fifth grader Nyla Braun. Nyla is a girl with a unique hobby, birdwatching, that will help her and inspire her classmates to participate seriously in a new spring birding tournament. Along the way, Nyla has doubts about friends, family, and her own abilities.
My review:
The story moves along at a good pace, has a little suspense, and lots of interesting descriptions of birds and their songs.
To go along with this book, I recommend, The Junior Birder’s Handbook: A Kid’s Guide to Birdwatching. This book is filled with information about birds and how to start your birding hobby!
