What is this book about?
“Hello! My name is Beatrice. You have a lovely bog.”
“Hello, Beatrice. Do you have any last words before I turn you into a fly and eat you?”
With a droll sense of humor reminiscent of John Klassen (Where is My Hat?) and Lemony Snicket, Bog Myrtle tells a lovely postmodern story of kind and considerate Beatrice, her greedy and cruel sister Magnolia, and the woman who will turn you into a fly and eat you if you take anything from the forest: Bog Myrtle. The story unfolds amongst charming full-page illustrations as kindness gets rewarded, greed is punished, and spiders go on strike for better working conditions.
Review: Reminiscent of a modernized fairy tale, this book is a great choice for anybody who would make friends with the monster in the woods who eats people. She’s been trying to work on her temper, after all.
